Off the Beaten Path at Watson Farm

Join us for a guided tour of this extensive seaside working farm owned and conserved by Historic New England!

Watson Farm Managers Don Minto and Max Sherman will discuss how the farm’s evolution relates to the local island community and state history. Discover stories of the land, people, and natural resources of Narragansett Bay and learn how preserving our historic landscapes positively affects local food production.

See demonstrations of the farmers working with the heritage sheep and cows, and experience the gorgeous views of the East Passage of Narragansett Bay and the Jamestown Bridge.

Dress in comfortable shoes and weatherproof layers for this two-mile, moderate walk. This event is rain or shine. Please do not bring pets.

Directions: Take Route 138 east across Jamestown Bridge. Take Helm St. exit. Turn right onto North Road. The farm is 0.3 miles on the right. From Newport Bridge, take the first exit. Follow signs to Jamestown. Turn right on Narragansett Avenue. Turn right at light on North Road. The farm is 1.6 miles on the left. Follow signs to visitor parking; ample parking is available in an unpaved lot.

**Self-guided tours of Watson Farm are available from June 1 – October 15 on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoons between 1:00 and 5:00 pm. Admission for these self-guided tours is $6 for adults.
