Full Harvest Moonrise Walk with The Amateur Astronomical Society of RI
October 6 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) for a Full Hunter’s Moonrise Walk on Monday, October 6 at Mount Hope Farm. The event, at 250 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI, begins at 5:00 p.m. with guests gathering in the main parking lot just below the barn. Celebrate the beauty of fall with a leisurely walk to the shore field, about .8 mile, where we will wait for the moon to rise over scenic Mount Hope Bay at about 5:55 p.m., sky conditions permitting. Joining us will be Michael Corvese from Skyscrapers, The Amateur Astronomical Society of RI. He will talk about the origins of the moon followed by lunar observing with a telescope and binoculars. Nature has a way of surprising us, so we’re hoping for an awe-inspiring experience. This event is suited for everyone, including families and children of all ages.
Please wear appropriate walking shoes, and bring bug repellent, binoculars, and a flashlight (for the walk back) if desired. The fee for the walk is $15 per person, $25 per family, and free for BLCT members. Proceeds will benefit the conservation and stewardship efforts of the BLCT. The event should conclude between 7 and 7:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served. For further information email the BLCT at BristolLandTrust@gmail.com or contact Ray Payson at 401-225-4903.
