This guided walk will be led by George Christie (BS Landscape Architecture, MS Entomology), rare species data clerk for the RI Natural History Survey and native plant conservation volunteer for the Native Plant Trust, and Lizzie Hunt, East Greenwich Municipal Land Trust Trustee, and native plant expert.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4\">Mawney-Pine Preserve is a 40-acre parcel\u00a0<a class=\"!text-viridian\" href=\"https:\/\/eastgreenwichnews.com\/town-buys-40-acre-tillinghast-property-for-conservation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener ugc\">purchased by the Town of East Greenwich in 2024<\/a>\u00a0for permanent conservation. This August, Land Trust members worked with town staff to facilitate a\u00a0<a class=\"!text-viridian\" href=\"https:\/\/eastgreenwichnews.com\/youths-clear-trails-to-open-mawney-pine-preserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener ugc\">major trail-building project<\/a>\u00a0by the Audubon Society of Rhode Island&#8217;s Youth Conservation League (YCL). The preserve now features three trails totaling 1.5 miles, including short inclines, rock outcroppings, a meadow, a historic cemetery, and a footbridge over the Hunt River.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4\">Event Details<\/p>\n<ul class=\"pl-5 list-disc mb-4\">\n<li>Family-friendly<\/li>\n<li>Rain date: Sunday, October 19th, 2:00 PM<\/li>\n<li>Check &#8220;Friends of the East Greenwich Land Trust&#8221; Facebook page for updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4\">Meet in the parking area.
