The walk will be roughly 2.5 miles. Be sure to wear comfortable\, weather appropriate clothes and good walking/hiking shoes. \nIn the event of inclement weather\, this walk may be canceled. Check the Facebook or Meetup event page for updates. \nDirections: The Steere Hill trailhead parking area is opposite the Harmony Post Office on Putnam Pike in Chepachet (Route 44).

SUMMARY:Glocester's Steere Hill Hike
DESCRIPTION:Glocester Land Trust invites you on a guided walk of their spectacular Steere Hill Conservation Area. Starting at the parking area\, we will walk through the forest on twisting trails\, over an earthen dam\, rocky ridges\, past a shepherds hut site\, a grove of American Beech\, immense stone walls and barn foundations\, to a 27 acre meadow with a breathtaking five mile vista at the summit of Steere Hill. On the way down the hill we will visit an ancient cemetery with unmarked field stones for headstone and footstones that may date to the 1740’s. \nThe trail is a little rough\, gently rolling\, and can be muddy\, so wear appropriate shoes. At the top of the hill is a portable toilet. Leashed dogs are welcome. Bring water. Total distance is approx 3 miles.
