DESCRIPTION:The Rhode Island Land Trust Council is posting this event on behalf of the Barrington Land Conservation Trust. For this event\, BLCT requires that you register directly with them. Please register here. \nExperience the late summer beauty of Osamequin Nature Preserve with a guided walk on Sunday\, Sept. 14\, at 1 pm. The walk will be led by Kathryn Beauchamp from the Barrington Garden Club\, which co-stewards the property with the Barrington Land Conservation Trust and the Town of Barrington. \nDress for the weather and bring your camera. All ages are welcome. The walk will last about an hour over moderate terrain\, some of which may be wet. Please leave dogs at home. \nOsamequin Nature Preserve is a 42-acre property located on the Wampanoag Trail\, bordering Hundred Acre Cove in Barrington\, RI.

SUMMARY:End of Summer's Day at Osamequin Nature Trails & Bird Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:The Barrington Land Conservation Trust\, the Barrington Garden Club and Barrington Recreation Department invite you to a late afternoon walk at Osamequin Nature Trails and Bird Sanctuary. This walk is also part of the Barrington 300th Anniversary commemoration. \nCelebrate the completion of a mulit-year trail renovation effort between the Land Trust and the Garden Club. Enjoy the coastline views including an osprey platform and a colorful late summer meadow. Learn about Osamequin\, the Massasoit of 400 years ago for whom the preserve is named; then learn about the two US Presidents who have passed this way within the last century. \nOur leisurely paced walk across gentle terrain is appropriate for all ages and dogs on leash. Please note: there are several uneven foot bridges along our planned route. Our brand new trail guide and brochure will be available for participants. \nNo reservation is needed for this free public walk. Dress for the day’s weather. This trailhead is right on Route 114 North\, also known as County Road and Wampanoag Trail. \nFrom the South take Route 114 North. You will pass Federal Road in Barrington — the “White Church” (Congregational Church) bridge intersection — and Walker’s Farm\, and then about 0.2 mile beyond the turnaround exit for Route 103 to Riverside look for a sign for the preserve on your right as well as a parking area next to the road. \nFrom the North take Route 114 South to the turnaround exit on the left 0.15 miles south of Primrose Hill Road. Take this turnaround\, which puts you on Route 114 north. Go 0.2 miles and look for a sign for the preserve on your right as well as a parking area next to the road.
