DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled due to weather. \nJoin the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) for a Full Sturgeon Moonrise Walk on Monday\, August 19 at Mount Hope Farm. Celebrate the height of summer with a leisurely walk to the shore field\, about 0.8 miles\, as we wait for the moonrise at about 7:58 p.m.\, sky conditions permitting. We’ll be on the lookout for wildlife on the way down\, particularly around the pond. Sturgeon Moon comes from the giant lake sturgeons that were readily caught during this part of summer. It’s also the first Supermoon of the year\, which means that it will appear bigger and brighter than the full moons we have seen so far this year. \nThe event\, which takes place at 250 Metacom Avenue\, Bristol RI\, begins at 6:30 p.m. with guests gathering in the main parking lot just below the barn. Please wear appropriate walking shoes\, and bring bug repellent\, binoculars and flashlight (for the walk back) if desired. The event should conclude by 9 p.m. \nThe cash or check only fee is $15 per person\, a maximum of $25 for families\, and free for BLCT members. Payable at door. SUMMARY:Day After Thanksgiving Ramble at Mount Hope Farm
DESCRIPTION:The Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) will lead an easy 1.5 to 2-mile therapeutic ramble around Mount Hope Farm (MHF) 250 Metacom Avenue\, Bristol\, RI on Friday\, November 24\, 2023 (the day after Thanksgiving) from 10 am – 12 pm. The hike will meet in the lower main parking lot below the barn. \nThere will be photo stops along the way\, a little history\, and some birdwatching. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the Farm and enjoy the fresh air\, scenery\, and sights & sounds of one of Bristol’s historic gems. Bring binoculars if you’d like\, and wear appropriate outerwear / footwear for the season. \nThe fee is $15/ person with a $25 max per family (cash or check only). BLCT and MHF members are free. Proceeds go to support the BLCT’s mission in preserving open space in Bristol forever. \nNote: There will be no restroom facilities available on this day; plan accordingly. The rain date is Saturday. The group will then walk leisurely down the paved road for about 3/4 of a mile\, enjoying nature’s many sights and sounds along the way\, passing the manmade duckpond enroute to the Cove Cabin area. We will gather in the big field just past the cabin for the rising of the full blue moon at about 7:35 p.m.\, sky conditions permitting. \nWear appropriate footwear and bring a flashlight and insect repellent if desired. \nThere is a $15 per person fee\, with a maximum of $25 per family\, cash or check payable at the event. There is no fee for BLCT members. Proceeds benefit the BLCT in its mission to conserve and protect open spaces forever.
