SUMMARY:Bland Preserve and Beavers: Two Guided Hikes
DESCRIPTION:The Cumberland Land Trust invites you to come enjoy a guided hike through woods and adjacent to a swamp inhabited by beavers. Learn about how the beavers have modified this natural area and the actions taken in response by the Cumberland Land Trust. Observe some of the unique habitats located at this preserve. The trail\, which includes bog bridges\, has some hilly terrain but is not considered difficult to travel. \nThe hike will be offered at two times: 9:00 am-10:30am and 11:00 am-12:30pm. Due to site constraints\, the Cumberland Land Trust is limiting the number of participants to 30 people for each hike. Please note that a reservation via Meetup or by phone is required: there are two listings\, one for each time. Be sure to reserve the hike with the time that suits your schedule. \nThe hike of approximately 1.5 miles is appropriate for adults and families with children ages five and older. The trail is not handicap accessible. No bathroom facilities are available. Participants should wear appropriate boots or shoes for hiking\, bring water and apply bug repellent. Light refreshments will also be provided. The event is expected to last 1 ½ hours. Please leave your pets at home. \nThe event will be postponed in the event of rain. Bland Preserve Trailhead is located on the south side of Nate Whipple Highway (Rt 120) in northern Cumberland.\nFrom the south\, take Exit 10 off Interstate 295 and go north on Mendon Rd. (Rt 122) for about 2 miles until you reach a traffic light (Navigant Credit Union). Bear right onto Nate Whipple Highway and proceed east for about 1 mile. Parking is available across the street from the Preserve on Sneech Pond Road. Use caution crossing Nate Whipple Highway and make your way to Pole 54.
