See trees\, shrubs\, birds\, talk about the American Chestnut. See one of a kind glacial erratics from Canada and cross streams and brooks. And then go have some craft beer at a local brewery in beautiful downtown Pascoag\, RI. \nHear the voices of Paul\, and Don\, and Doris\, and others as we tell stories\, share news and generally have a good time. This is a fun walk with time to stay still and listen. And\, if we are really nice\, we will get a visit from our very own Pokémon woodland creature. DESCRIPTION:Location: Burrillville\nThis workshop spans two days:\nSaturday\, September 11: 9:30am – 3pm\nSunday\, September 12: 9:30am – 3pm \nYou may choose to attend just one day for $75\, or both days for $100.  \nRegister in advance by calling (401) 447-1560. \nJoin the Burrillville Land Trust for a natural dye workshop and community conversation. A multi-day workshop on sustainably sourcing\, processing and extracting dyes from plants that can be used for natural color from the forests and meadows of Burrillville\, RI. Yoga in the morning\, a catered lunch\, guided foraging\, extraction\, and dyeing with experts in native people\, botany and our sense of place. \nParticipants will learn first hand how natural dyes are collected\, manufactured and used. And participants will color and craft their own textile outfits\, aprons\, throw pillows\, scarves or wrap around skirts. The two day workshop is limited to 15 participants. The workshop will culminate in a forest runway show -an opportunity to celebrate and exhibit the created work\, the color palette of the forest and discuss the opportunities that working with nature can create for a local\, sustainable textile production. \nParticipants must bring a smile\, a chair and hat\, sturdy shoes for a walk on both days\, a change of clothes\, a willingness to share\, and a desire to cast what is learned to a wider audience once the workshop has ended. \nEach day includes the following: Morning Yoga; gathering materials with an ethnobotanist; catered lunch; presentation and story telling of and by indigenous peoples; dyeing with experts; closing meditation; and take away samples for scarves\, tote bags\, wrap around skirts\, or apron. \nThis event is suitable for adults & children ages 12+. SUMMARY:Boots and Beer: After Thanksgiving Edition!
DESCRIPTION:Location: Pascoag\nJoin the Burrillville Land Trust for their very popular Boots and Beer event – After Thanksgiving edition! A great way to recharge and walk off a big meal on a fall evening. \nThis 3-mile walk travels along the interior of the Edward D. Vock Conservation Area\, an 86 acre property owned by the Burrillville Land Trust\, a private non-profit all volunteer land trust in the Town of Burrillville. The property is named for Edward D. Vock\, who was an orphan living in NYC. During the summers the orphanage would come up to Burrillville and go camping. Years later\, looking for a place for he and his wife and their three daughters\, Vock bought the land from Father Holland\, a pastor in the Town of Burrillville. At the time Vock purchased the property\, the land had been cleared for farming and raising cattle and sheep. Over the years\, Vock happily set out to turn the land into a forest…later becoming one of the first Tree Farms in Rhode Island! \nThe walk features rolling hills\, stream crossings\, glacial erratics and more. Good hiking shoes are required. Wear weather appropriate clothing. The land trust will bring orange blaze vest for each hiker. It is recommended that each hiker bring their own orange blaze. Water bottle and a snack may be a good idea to bring as well. Leashed dogs are welcomed. \nAfter the walk (around 3:15pm)\, we will drive to Bravo Brewing Company. Cash bar.
