SUMMARY:Third Thursday Hike: DuVal Trail System
DESCRIPTION:Location: South Kingstown\nJoin the South Kingstown Land Trust for a guided hike every 3rd Thursday of the month at 8:30 am on a different SKLT trail. For September\, visit the DuVal Trail System in South Kingstown. This system of trails crosses numerous parcels protected by SKLT and DEM between 1983 and 2013. These trails feature the hill and kettle topography of a terminal moraine left by the retreating glaciers of the last ice age.\nVisitors enjoy a sweeping view of the ocean and Block Island to the south from a scenic overlook. Susanna’s Woods is noted for its stands of oak and used as woodlots for the plantation families who farmed the flat land nearer the coast. Though the area was never cleared\, it has been continually cut for 300 years.\nAll ages welcome. Leashed dogs are welcome. There is no fee or registration associated with this event. \nThe guided walk will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
