SUMMARY:Trail Walk with Friends of Canonchet Farm
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Canonchet Farm President Tom Hoagland and Trails Chair Alan Woodmansee will lead a walk along the Nature Trail and showcase the work of our volunteers removing invasive plants and cutting new trails\, plus seeing the rebuilt stone walls and boardwalks and the site of the new Three Sisters Garden. They will also discuss the invasive plants to be seen along the trail and what measures can be taken to eliminate them and allow native plants to regrow in their place.

SUMMARY:Ceremonial Stone Landscape Walk in Hopkinton
DESCRIPTION:Hopkinton Land Trust welcomes you to come meet the Fosters. This special afternoon is co-hosted by the Friends of the Hopkinton Land Trust\, the Hopkinton Historic District Commission\, and the Hopkinton Land Trust. Three generations of these Native Americans lived and worked in Canonchet 1807-1907\, assimilated with their European neighbors\, except … they practised traditional native spiritualism and the construction of spirit stone groupings (Manitou Hassanash) for that 100 years. This impressive ceremonial stone landscape (CSL) of Canonchet Preserves is under review for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places. \nNearby Canonchet Farm is hosting the CSL Day event which includes food\, shelter\, speakers and walking tours of the Foster homesteads and stone groupings. The afternoon will include a dedication of the Manitou Hassanash Sanctuary by the four New England Federal Tribes. \nCSL Day opens at the riding barn at 11am. Beverages & snacks will be available.There will be docents in the field to guide people to the ceremonial stones. Speakers will be featured starting at approximately 1:30pm at the Canonchet Farm. This is a family friendly event to be held rain or shine.
