SUMMARY:Bristol Land Conservation Trust Talk and Tour of the Green Infrastructure at the Town Beach
DESCRIPTION:Location: Bristol\nJoin the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) for a talk and special tour of the green infrastructure projects that have been constructed at the Bristol Town Beach and Sports Complex to include the bio-retention swale\, the parking area rain gardens with native vegetation to control stormwater\, and the beach tree planting to discourage Canada Geese activity. These projects were implemented to improve the water quality of Narragansett Bay and reduce the frequency of beach closures. \nLed by Walter Burke – Acting/Former longtime Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Bristol – guests will be treated to a lively discussion and tour of an award-winning series of eco-friendly projects at the Town Beach and Sports Complex. Through ingenuity and perseverance Mr. Burke was able to acquire several grants to piece together what now has made the Town Beach both an attractive and eco-friendly recreational destination. \nParticipants will meet at the Bristol Town Beach Pavilion (50 Asylum Road) for a short introduction to the area. During the tour numerous trees will be highlighted that have made this area so appealing. \nShould weather be inclement\, guests will meet at the nearby Quinta-Gamelin Community Center at 101 Asylum Road for a talk and PowerPoint presentation. \nThe BLCT welcomes new members. Annual dues are $25 for an individual and $40 per family. For more information\, email the BLCT at BristolLandTrust@gmail.com. \nRain Date: None. Updates will be shared on the Meetup and Facebook events. \nCost: $10 per person and $20 per family (cash or check only) and free for BLCT members. Proceeds benefit the BLCT in its mission to conserve and protect open spaces in Bristol. \nQuestions? Email BristolLandTrust@gmail.com or post in the Meetup or Facebook event! \nDirections & Meeting Place: Bristol Town Beach Pavilion – 50 Asylum Road\, Bristol\, RI \nLearn more about the Bristol Land Conservation Trust HERE.
