SUMMARY:Trail System Dedication at Borders Farm
DESCRIPTION:Join the Borders Farm Preservation for a day of events! \nA trail walk will be offered at 10 a.m.\, otherwise hikers are welcome to enjoy the trail system on their own. Maps are available on site and on the website: https://bordersfarm.org/visit. \nAt 11 a.m. we will be honoring our past president\, John Bradley\, with a Trail Dedication. His leadership with three BSA Eagle Scout projects resulted in the creation of our trail system. John passed away from cancer in 2021. \nVisitors will be offered refreshments and an opportunity to tour the farmhouse\, with docents to relay the history of the farm. A taste a sample of Switchel\, the traditional haytime energy drink for laborers will be available. There will be a musical jam in the afternoon. \nThe site also features an 1840 farmhouse\, barn\, and outhouse. A “RI Walks” Steelyard creature can be found on a section of the Red Trail! \nDogs on leashes are welcomed. Kid-friendly. Clean Port-o-potty; house not handicap accessible\, but grounds are flat. The John Bradley Trail is flat and open. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Bluegrass\, Hikes\, History\, and More at Borders Farm
DESCRIPTION:Location: Foster\nCome on down to Borders Farm for a day of history\, hikes\, bluegrass\, and a barn sale! \nBorders Farm was settled in the 1760’s and has been continuously farmed for 250 years. The farm\, which is on the National Historic Register\, encompasses over 200 acres on both sides of North Road. Today\, Borders Farm\, Inc. and Borders Farm Preservation\, Inc help to keep alive Charles and Margery Borders’ dream of keeping their property as a working farm\, museum and agricultural education center. \nBorders Farm’s knowledgeable docents will be available throughout the day to guide the public through the history and collections of the 1840 Farm House and describe how the family lived. House tours at 10:00am\, 11:00am and 12:00pm. \nJoin guided walks of the Borders Farm property\, which includes two barns\, a 19th-century farmhouse\, several ponds and pastures\, old stone walls\, livestock\, and substantial wooded areas. The walks will be easy\, but on varied terrain. \nFrom 11:00am-1:00pm\, Borders Farm will host a Bluegrass Concert with Saddle Up the Chicken. The public is welcome to bring a picnic\, blanket and/or lawn chairs and spread out under the shady trees. \nAt historic Borders Farm\, you’ll never know what you’ll find! Charles Borders was a known collector of antiquities\, artifacts\, curios\, curiosities\, and collectibles. They’ve cleaned out the attics and cellars of the farmhouse and barns and will be putting items out on the lawn for a giant yard sale. This is your opportunity to own a piece of history! \nSuggested ages: 5 and up\, unless in a backpack or carrier. Visitors should bring insect repellent and sun protection. Due to the presence of farm animals\, dogs are not encouraged on the property; service dogs on leash are welcome. \nIn the case of rain/thunderstorms\, this event will be canceled. Updates will be posted to the Borders Farm Preservation\, Inc Facebook page. \nQuestions? Email 2bordersfarm2@gmail.com \nDirections: 31 North Rd\, Foster. Take Route 6 West to Route 94 South\, then turn right onto North Road.
