DESCRIPTION:2022 Land Trust Days Warm-Up: \nBristol Land Conservation Trust Talk and Tour of the Green Infrastructure Projects at the Town Beach \nJoin the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) on Wednesday\, August 24\, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. for a special tour of the green infrastructure projects that have been constructed at the Bristol Town Beach and Sports Complex. These projects include a bio-retention swale\, parking area rain gardens with native vegetation to control stormwater\, and beach tree planting to discourage Canada geese activity. These projects were implemented to improve the water quality of Narragansett Bay and reduce the frequency of beach closures. Lead by Walter Burke – former longtime Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Bristol – guests will be treated to a lively discussion and tour of an award winning series of eco-friendly projects at the Town Beach and Sports Complex. Through ingenuity and perseverance Mr. Burke was able to acquire several grants to piece together what has now made the Town Beach both an attractive and eco-friendly recreational destination. \nParticipants will meet at the pavilion\, 50 Asylum Rd.\, Bristol\, RI. \nThe fee is $10 per person\, $20 per family (cash or check only) and free for BLCT members. Proceeds benefit the BLCT in its mission to conserve and protect open spaces in Bristol. \nThe rain date is Aug 25th. The BLCT welcomes new members.
