Guided Nature Hike for All Ages

September 16, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Location: Foster

The Foster Land Trust invites you to join them for a nature hike on their Spencer-West property, guided by botanical specialist M. Thoman. Recently, the Youth Conservation League’s “Crew in Your Community” helped clean the trails and pond area to prepare for this Land Trust Days event.

This hike is appropriate for all ages with an easy half-mile walk through forested terrain and over two small footbridges to a pond. An optional 1-mile loop trail through Mountain Laurel shrub has trickier footing. For those just wanting to sit by the pond: bring a lawn chair and enjoy the surroundings! An access gate near the parking area takes you directly to the pond. Water activities are not permitted. Please, no pets on this hike.

This event is rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather that day. As always for woodland hikes, a water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, and sturdy shoes are recommended. There are no bathroom facilities at this location.

Questions? Contact Linda Los Tibbetts at fosterlandtrust@gmail.com.

Directions: The Spencer-West property is located on the east side of Paine Road in Foster, RI. Parking is available between poles 38 and 39 on the east side of Paine Road. Paine Road begins on the north side of Rt 6 in Foster, just a bit west of the junction of Rts 6 and 94.
