SUMMARY:CANCELLED Meteor Shower Viewing at Grills Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Location: Westerly\nJoin The Westerly Land Trust at Grills Preserve to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower! We will go on an approximately 1-mile walk through the trails until we arrive at “Big Hill” within the preserve. This is an open\, dark and quiet area perfect for stargazing. This year\, we should see approximately 60-70 meteors per hour.\nThe Perseid Meteor Shower is one of the brighter meteor showers that happen every year. The 2018 Perseid’s shower is going to peak on this night and there will be a New Moon\, providing optimal viewing conditions.\nPlease note: Bring a blanket\, bug spray\, flashlight/headlamp\, and dress warmly. \nRegistration is not necessary\, but please call walk leader Donna (203-470-4566) if you are running late so she knows to wait for you. If the weather is questionable\, please call Donna for cancellation notification. \nNo fee for this event. \nDirections: Park in the parking lot at the end of Bowling Ln\, which is off N Main St in Bradford (Westerly). \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Evening Hike at Avondale Farm Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Location: Westerly\nAvondale Farm Preserve in Westerly is a beautiful haven for butterflies\, birds\, and bats. Bird-watchers have called this preserve a hot spot for many species of birds. The hike is an easy\, flat walk through a coastal preserve with a variety of native grasses and late summer wildflowers. All ages are welcome! This event is free of charge.\nFor all hikes be sure to wear shoes appropriate for natural conditions that may include rocks\, roots\, and mud along the paths. In warmer months\, come prepared with insect repellent for your comfort. \nRegistration is not necessary\, but please call walk leader Donna (203-470-4566) if you’re running late so she knows to wait for you! If the weather is questionable\, please contact Donna for cancellation notification. \nDirections: Avondale Farm Preserve is on Quail Run in Westerly.
