SUMMARY:Salt Pond Safari at Winnapaug Farm Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Westerly Land Trust would like you to join them for some fun in the sun at Westerly Land Trust’s scenic Winnapaug Farm Preserve! Salt Ponds Coalition will take children on a Salt Pond Safari to introduce them to the wonders of Winnapaug Pond. Using a 30′ seine net\, we will do our best to catch a variety of aquatic creatures to introduce to the children. The kids get hands-on experience with salt pond ecology-plan on them getting wet! From there\, we’ll take a walk through a brief wooded stretch of the preserve to access the salt pond.\nA portion of the trail is uneven- waterproof boots or sturdy water closed-toe water shoes are recommended. \nPre-registration is required by contacting Alicia as we can only comfortably accommodate about 15 children.We will leave the parking area at 10 AM. Please be there at least 10 minutes early to check in–we don’t want to miss you! SUMMARY:All-Ages Hike at Avondale Farm Preserve Hike
DESCRIPTION:Westerly Land Trust welcomes you to join hike leader\, Donna Anderson\, on an easy\, flat walk through a coastal preserve with a variety of native grasses and late summer wildflowers\, butterflies (this is a haven for butterflies)\, birds and bats. We will meet at the Quail Run Trailhead. \nFor all hikes\, be sure to wear shoes appropriate for the natural conditions that may include rocks\, roots and mud along the paths. In warmer months\, come prepared with insect repellent for your comfort\, but it is also recommended year round for prevention of Lyme disease. \nQuestions?\nYou may reach out to hike leader\, Donna\, at 203-470-4566.
