SUMMARY:Full Corn Moonrise and Ridge Walk - Cancelled!
DESCRIPTION:Weather forecasts for heavy rain with thunderstorms have informed our decision to cancel the full moon walk. Please stay tuned as we will pick another full moon date later this year for a walk. \nNeutaconkanut Hill Conservancy and the Providence Parks Department along with Rhode Island Land Trust Days and Blackstone Go! invite you to escape your work day routine for a guided walk capped by the full corn moonrise from the summit meadow. At 6:30 pm\, meet to enjoy a short walk featuring the trees of Neutaconkanut. By 7:30 pm\, we’ll be back at the meadow to watch for the full moon rising over Providence. \nDress for the day’s weather and bring a flashlight. This walk is free\, but we suggest a $5 per family donation to help support the work of the Conservancy. No advance reservations required. Suitable for ages 5 and up. Dogs on leash are welcome. Insect repellant is also recommended year round as a precaution against ticks which carry Lyme Disease. \nYou may choose to skip the walk. If so\, plan to meet us at the summit meadow around 7:30 pm. We’ll start our walk at the Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy kiosk behind the ballfield. From the east and south: From I-95 in Providence\, take US-6W/RI-10W exit. From the north: From I-95 in Providence\, take Exit 22B for US-6W/RI-10W. Merge onto US-6W. Get off at the Killingly St. Exit. Take a left at exit onto Killingly St. Continue to drive straight at the Hartford Ave. intersection light\, keeping on Killingly St. At stop sign (the ball park will be straight ahead) turn left\, staying on Killingly St and then turn right into the parking lot for the ballfield. Additional parking can be found in the Recreation Center parking lot at 675 Plainfield St. Both lots offer ample free parking. \nOur Conservancy programs are offered to the community thanks to our dedicated volunteers. Stay safe! \nThe Ten Mile River Watershed Council\, the East Providence Conservation Commission and the National Park Service invite you to experience the beauty of a late summer sunset and full harvest moonrise across the Turner Reservoir. Learn about the fish ladder restoring the herring run. Our easy\, less than a mile walk will include a side trip to an ancient oak tree at Bridgham Farm. \nNo reservations are needed for this free event. Dogs on leash are welcome. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bug repellant is advised. This is about about 200 feet north of Seekonk town line near the intersection of 114A with Ledge Road. Free parking is available in two lots on either side of the Ten Mile River.
