DESCRIPTION:Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy and the Providence Parks Department don’t want you to miss this Saturday walk with our guide from the Conservancy. Although Neutaconkanut is the only wild forest in Providence\, the hill has long been noted for its amazing assortment of trees and its history.\nDress for the day’s weather – be sure to wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes. This walk is free\, but we suggest a $5 per family donation to help support these events and the work of the Conservancy. No advance reservations required. Suitable for ages 5 and up. Dogs on leash are welcome. Insect repellant is also recommended year round as a precaution against ticks which carry Lyme Disease. SUMMARY:Blackall Family Preserve Hike in the Woods
DESCRIPTION:Location: Cumberland\nCome explore and enjoy nature on a guided hike through the Blackall Family Preserve. This 132-acre Town-owned open space is co-managed by the Cumberland Land Trust. Observe a variety of habitats along trails of moderate terrain\, with some hills. The hike is approximately 2 miles and is appropriate for adults and families with children ages five and older. The trail is not handicap accessible. No bathroom facilities are available. Participants should wear appropriate boots or shoes for hiking\, bring water and apply bug repellent. Light refreshments will also be provided. The event is expected to last 1 ½ hours. Please leave your pets at home. DESCRIPTION:Location: Smithfield\nThe Smithfield Land Trust and the Smithfield Conservation Commission invite you to experience the latest poetry installation on their properties. They have poems installed in quiet places to encourage a thoughtful rest on a hike. Poetry boxes are also present at many properties. They have contributions from many local poets and artists. On the guided hike\, participants will hike to the area of the installation and be part of it with the volunteers who put it up. This is a great family activity. Wolf Hill Forest preserve is a hilly start and the hike will be about 1 mile (not handicap accessible). Wear hiking clothes\, bring bug spray\, and water. DESCRIPTION:Location: East Providence\nThe East Providence Conservation Commission invites you to join them on a hike around Turner Reservoir and the abutting Bridgham Farm. All ages are welcome. Please be comfortable walking/hiking 3 miles on both trails and asphalt surfaces. Bug spray and sunscreen are suggested\, along with plenty of water if it is a hot day. There are no restrooms. Leashed dogs welcome. This will be a casual paced walk\, stopping often for photo opportunities. The reservoir is home to several birds including great blue herons. Bald eagles have been spotted here on occasion. \nThere is no fee or registration required for this event\, however\, the walk will depart at 9 am sharp.
