DESCRIPTION:Join Aquidneck Land Trust (“ALT”) and the Newport County YMCA for free fitness classes in scenic Miantonomi Park every Sunday in August! This historic\, 30-acre park features large\, undisturbed woodlands in the densely developed North End of Newport. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to socialize with friends and neighbors\, and to engage in some free physical activity in the fresh air. The 45-minute classes will be led by a certified fitness professional from the Newport County YMCA. All ages and abilities are welcome! \nFitness in the Park is part of the Miantonomi Exploration Days\, brought to you by the Newport Open Space Partnership. After the class\, climb the spiral staircase of Miantonomi Memorial Tower and explore the park’s network of beautiful trails – all conserved permanently by ALT. \nFitness in the Park is made possible by a grant from the Frederick Henry Prince Memorial Fund at Newport Hospital. Join us for a workout that’s “Powered by Prince!” \nProgram is free; no reservation required and will be held weather permitting. Classes held on sunny Sundays in August. Any cancellation notices will be posted on the ALT and Newport County YMCA Facebook pages. \nNote: Shortlly after this event\, you can visit Miantonomi Memorial Tower. The site has a rich history and provides large\, undisturbed woodlands in the densely developed North End of Newport. \nExplore the park’s hiking trails after you climb the tower\, and enjoy one of the best spots for birding in Newport! The tower iteself will be open between 11am to 2pm. You may come and go at your leisure to explore the rest of the park. Stop by for 10 minutes to climb the spiral staircase to the top of the tower or hike the trails for an hour!
