DESCRIPTION:Location: Bristol\nAll attendees must pre-register on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/full-harvest-moonrise-walk-tickets-122556713429 \nIn celebration of Rhode Island Land Trust Days\, the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) is sponsoring a Full Harvest Moonrise Walk on Thursday\, October 1st at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol. The event\, which runs from 6 to 8 pm\, will be held at Mount Hope Farm. Arrive early to begin our walk at 6 pm. It is an easy walk of about .7 mile to the shoreline. \nThe Bristol Land Conservation Trust is a small nonprofit organization. The donation of $5 per person and $10 per family will help the BLCT in its mission – to help conserve and protect the town’s valuable open space either through direct ownership or conservation easements. \nAll participants must wear a face covering. Be sure to wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring bug spray & a flashlight. This event is suitable for all ages. Dogs are not allowed at Mount Hope Farm\, so please leave them at home! \nRain Date: Friday\, October 2nd\, 6-8pm. DESCRIPTION:Location: Narragansett\nAll attendees must register on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sunset-farm-trail-guided-walk-tickets-122248748297 \nJoin the Narragansett Land Conservancy Trust and naturalist Frances Topping for a guided walk through Sunset Farm Trail! \nThe Town of Narragansett’s Sunset Farm Trail is a 1.5-mile loop trail which is a peaceful stroll through quiet woods. There is even a nice ‘peak’ at Point Judith Pond from a pleasant upland bluff. The trail passes through the only active farm in Narragansett. The 1-1/2-hour tour will be conducted by Frances Topping\, a naturalist\, artist and educator from Charlestown. \nAll participants must wear a face covering. Be sure to wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring bug spray. This event is FREE and suitable for all ages. \n*NOTE: This event is limited to 15 attendees. She has a BS in geography with botany and zoology as well as a BFA. She worked for 10 years for a nature center as an interpretive naturalist in Ohio delivering walks and other programs about the flora\, fauna and history of that area for all ages and abilities. In Rhode Island she has given walks and talks for the RI Wild Plant Society and art workshops for the RI Natural History Survey\, RIWPS\, and other art groups\, and talks on native and invasive plants among other topics for Master Gardeners\, RIWPS and garden clubs. Her artwork is mostly nature related with plants a specialty as can be seen on her website francestoppingvisuals.com . \nRain Date: In the case of heavy rain\, the walk will be postponed to Sunday\, October 4\, 2020 at 10:00 AM. SUMMARY:3rd Thursday Hike: Yawgoo Pond
DESCRIPTION:Location: South Kingstown\nAll participants must pre-register on the South Kingstown Land Trust website: http://sklt.org/events-calendar/ \nJoin the South Kingstown Land Trust (SKLT) for their October 3rd Thursday Hike! The October hike features the 2.2 mile Yawgoo Pond Trail\, which takes the hiker by a kettle hole bog\, over Mud Brook\, and through a grove of stately white pine trees. Yawgoo Trail is also noted for its thick under-story of mountain laurel\, especially near the steep banks of the kettle hole\, and spectacular views of pristine Yawgoo Pond. \nThe first acquisition in this area by SKLT\, a 12.04 acre parcel at the south end of Yawgoo Pond\, was through private donations in February 2001. The second acquisition\, in October of 2005\, preserved 68.3 acres on the east side of the pond. This project received support from the DEM Forest Legacy and Open Space Bond Fund\, The Nature Conservancy\, The Champlin Foundations\, The Bafflin Foundation\, and private donations from neighbors. \nAll participants should wear a face covering. Together we will cross the new footbridge on a leisurely walk on the perimeter trail around the fields and a brief loop through the woods. Great walk for birders! The annual bird count consistently tracks nearly 40 species of birds. \nManaged primarily as a grassland bird sanctuary\, Lawton Farm has been improved recently through a Department of Environmental Management grant. The new entrance kiosk carries educational information and features bird illustrations colored on ceramic tiles by children from the Hope after school program. This walk is jointly sponsored by the Scituate Land Trust and the Gentian Garden Club. \nAll participants must wear a face covering.
