From June to mid-July\, female terrapins nest in the sandpits\, and in mid-August the terrapin hatchlings start to emerge! \nThe Terrapin Project and this town owned wildlife refuge are managed by the Nockum Hill Management Committee. \nAll participants should wear a face covering\, comfortable walking/hiking shoes\, sunscreen\, & bring bug spray. This event is FREE and suitable for all ages. DESCRIPTION:Location: Scituate\nJoin the Scituate Land Trust and the Gentian Garden Club on this quiet wooded walk at Westconnaug Meadows and test your knowledge of a variety of tree species: white pine\, gray birch\, oak\, and chestnut\, among others. The property\, owned by the Scituate Land Trust\, offers a short trail that is just over a mile long. This trail has been called one of the most peaceful\, serene\, and quiet hikes in Rhode Island! It is a good hike for beginners and children. \nAll participants must wear a face covering. Be sure to wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes and bring bug spray. This event is FREE and suitable for all ages. Leashed dogs welcomed. \nSevere weather will cancel this event. September’s hike will be on Weeden Farm\, which is located on a glacial outwash plain. \nThis easy-to-walk 1.6 mile trail features pastoral views of stone walls and fields actively cultivated for hay and corn. Visitors also may enjoy views of fields managed for wildlife habitat and a large grove of larch trees. \nWear a face covering\, comfortable walking shoes\, sunblock & bug spray.
