DESCRIPTION:Location: Providence\nAs part of RI Land Trust Days and Blackstone Go!\, Neutaconkanut Hill Conservancy and the Providence Parks Department along with the Blackstone Heritage Corridor and the RI Land Trust Council invite you to this 1st Saturday of the month guided hike at Neutaconkanut Hill! Come see the natural evidence of the change of seasons firsthand. \nDress for the day’s weather – be sure to wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes. This walk is suitable for all ages. Little ones must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Dogs on a leash are also welcomed. Insect repellent is recommended year round as a precaution against ticks which carry Lyme Disease. There are no public restrooms on site. \nThis walk is free and open to the public. Donations are welcomed to help support these events and the work of the Conservancy. No advance reservations are required. \nQuestions? Travel approximately 5.5 miles on Route 3. Turn left onto Route 78 and follow until the end\, approximately 2.6 miles. Cross RT 1 through the traffic light which will put you on Airport Road. Travel 1.4 miles to the end. Turn left onto Watch Hill Road and proceed approximately 4 miles until you enter Watch Hill Village. This is Bay Street. The farm\, which is on the National Historic Register\, encompasses over 200 acres on both sides of North Road. Today\, Borders Farm\, Inc. and Borders Farm Preservation\, Inc help to keep alive Charles and Margery Borders’ dream of keeping their property as a working farm\, museum and agricultural education center. \nBorders Farm’s knowledgeable docents will be available throughout the day to guide the public through the history and collections of the 1840 Farm House and describe how the family lived. House tours at 10:00am\, 11:00am and 12:00pm. \nJoin guided walks of the Borders Farm property\, which includes two barns\, a 19th-century farmhouse\, several ponds and pastures\, old stone walls\, livestock\, and substantial wooded areas. The walks will be easy\, but on varied terrain. \nFrom 11:00am-1:00pm\, Borders Farm will host a Bluegrass Concert with Saddle Up the Chicken. SUMMARY:20th Anniversary of the Coventry Land Trust
DESCRIPTION:Location: Coventry\nJoin the Coventry Land Trust for a guided walk and open trail day at the Beaudoin Property to celebrate 20 years of land conservation in Coventry! \nCome experience the seasonal changes that September brings. The scenery of forest with outcrops and wetlands offers the hiker a peaceful backdrop for a weekend excursion! The property is situated within a beautiful\, 398-acre conservation area where the Coventry Land Trust has developed three trails that are suitable for a wide range of experience levels. \nAt 10am there will be a guided walk of the property’s blue trail to the greenway with members of the Land Trust. The walk will be 2 miles long (about 45-60 minutes) at a moderate pace. \nFollowing the guided walk\, all trails will be open until 2pm for self guided access. There will be a member of the Land Trust to provide information and direct you to the trails. \nBe sure to wear comfortable clothes and good walking/hiking shoes. The Coventry Land Trust will provide bottled water\, snacks\, and bug spray. \nThis event is FREE and open to the public. Leashed dogs welcome.
