In this four-part plein air series\, you’ll learn the foundations of outdoor sketching and painting while exploring the beautiful landscapes of SKLT properties. \nEach class begins with a short discussion and live demonstration\, where Trish introduces techniques in spatial design\, composition\, and atmospheric perspective. You’ll then set up with your own materials to sketch or paint on-site\, using nature as your subject. Trish will move among participants\, offering individual guidance and tips to help you develop your eye and technique. Sessions wrap up with a group critique\, where everyone shares their work in a relaxed and supportive setting. \nOver the course of the series\, you’ll practice: \n* Capturing light\, shadow\, and changing skies\n* Simplifying forms to convey the essence of a landscape (*less is more*)\n* Using composition to guide the viewer’s eye\n* Experimenting with your choice of medium—drawing\, watercolor\, oil\, or more \nPlease bring lightweight\, outdoor-friendly materials and consider accessibility when choosing easels or supplies. \nTrish\, a South Kingstown artist whose work has been exhibited across the U.S.\, has taught art in New England since 2006. We will leave the parking lot to begin the group walk promptly at 9:05 am. \nCome Prepared: Please dress accordingly\, wear comfortable shoes and bring water. DESCRIPTION:Join the Bristol Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) for a Full Hunter’s Moonrise Walk on Monday\, October 6 at Mount Hope Farm. The event\, at 250 Metacom Avenue\, Bristol\, RI\, begins at 5:00 p.m. with guests gathering in the main parking lot just below the barn. Celebrate the beauty of fall with a leisurely walk to the shore field\, about .8 mile\, where we will wait for the moon to rise over scenic Mount Hope Bay at about 5:55 p.m.\, sky conditions permitting. Joining us will be Michael Corvese from Skyscrapers\, The Amateur Astronomical Society of RI. He will talk about the origins of the moon followed by lunar observing with a telescope and binoculars. Nature has a way of surprising us\, so we’re hoping for an awe-inspiring experience. This event is suited for everyone\, including families and children of all ages.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease wear appropriate walking shoes\, and bring bug repellent\, binoculars\, and a flashlight (for the walk back) if desired. The fee for the walk is $15 per person\, $25 per family\, and free for BLCT members. Proceeds will benefit the conservation and stewardship efforts of the BLCT. DESCRIPTION:The East Providence Conservation Commission will be leading guided walks of the grounds at Hunts Mills to coincide with the East Providence Historical Society’s monthly open house. \nThe walks will be held at 12 PM every second Sunday of each month. This is an easy and relaxed paced walk of approximately 1 mile on wooded trails that is good for beginners and kids. The grounds have plenty of history dating over centuries. We will stop several times and discuss the history of the property as well as the Ten Mile River. \nMeet in the parking lot by John Hunt House. The John Hunt House\, a museum of East Providence history\, will open at 1:00 PM following the hike.
