Water will be available at the checkpoints for participants to refill their water bottles. The volunteers will be answering questions\, providing directions and showcasing the trail and the organizations. The volunteers will be at the checkpoints from 10 am until 1pm. Walkers can begin their hike at any of the checkpoints and parking will be available at three locations: the Pier Middle School\, the Narragansett Community Center\, and the West Parking Lot opposite the Narragansett Town Beach. \nThe NLCT and the FOCF plan to provide participants a keepsake of the event. SUMMARY:Story Walk with Coventry Land Trust
DESCRIPTION:The Coventry Land Trust is hosting its annual land trust days event with a twist — a story walk! Story walks include enlarged print outs of a picture book placed strategically along a trail\, for young ones and their families to explore as they wander. This is in partnership with the Coventry Public Library\, who has borrowed a story walk set for the event. Attendees can expect the story walk and a naturalist guided walk\, in addition to snacks and a raffle. \nThe event begins at 10am on October 5 but all are welcome to come before or stay late and enjoy the land trust. The story walk is being placed on the western side of the Janice L. Sullivan Conservation Area\, with parking recommended on the Ledge Road entrance — enter 444 Ledge Rd into the GPS. Just be careful looking out for Ledge Road as it can come up fast and look like a driveway. Bug spray will also be provided and all snacks and raffle on Ledge Road. Wear hiking shoes and be ready for fun!

SUMMARY:Fall Fungi at Bradner Preserve
DESCRIPTION:The Rhode Island Land Trust Council is posting this event on behalf of the Richmond Rural Preservation Land Trust. For this event\, RRPLT requires that you register directly with them. Please register here. \nJoin us at the Bradner Preserve trailhead at 10 a.m. for a fun and educational fungal foray! We’ll divide into small teams and explore the trails\, searching for the diverse fungi that call the preserve home. After about an hour of searching\, we’ll reconvene at the trailhead to gather around the ID table. There\, we’ll share our collections\, record our discoveries\, and discuss the fascinating fungi we’ve found. \nPlease bring water\, a light snack for yourself\, and bug spray. Wear appropriate clothing to protect yourself from ticks. Children are always welcome but please no pets at this fungal frolic — we would like to focus on the mushrooms! \nPlease be aware that this is NOT a foraging walk and we are not collecting mushrooms to eat them! This is to document species and their ecology. \nRegistration is limited to 20 participants. If you sign up and realize you cannot attend\, please reach out\, so we can give your space to another person.
