Join us at this weekly event where friends and locals shop\, support their local farmers and small business owners\, gather\, and enjoy the community. \nWalking trails and guided farm tours are available during the market. Guided tours of the barnyard and farmhouse area are $10. Walking trails to the bay and in the woodlands are open for free\, dawn to dusk. The market is free to attend. \nNo dogs allowed. Only cancelled in the event of severe weather. \nDirections: Take I-95 to Route 4 south to Route 138 east (Newport/Jamestown exit). Please register here. \nThe Watch Hill Conservancy and The Napatree Science Advisors are thrilled to invite you to celebrate a decade of stewardship with a guided tour led by Napatree Science Advisors\, Dr. Keith Killingbeck and Hope Leeson. Dr. Killingbeck and Hope Leeson will share their expertise and insights into the world of plant diversity in The Napatree Point Conservation Area. \nLasting approximately 90 minutes\, this program will involve a leisurely walk of about 2 miles on sandy terrain. This program is designed for individuals aged 15 and older\, and participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs. \nParking for this program is available throughout the village of Watch Hill. \nThe Napatree Scientific Stroll program showcases 10 years of monitoring and stewardship efforts in The Napatree Point Conservation Area. Please register here. \nExplore the rich\, mesic forest of Wahaneeta Preserve with the Westerly Land Trust and the RI Mycological Society and discover the fungal biodiversity in our woods. Wahaneeta is an old Girl Scout camp with a charming cedar cabin\, rich mesic woodland and we will be exploring the fungi after a nice\, damp summer so we are sure to find lots of interesting mushrooms! \nJoin us for a fascinating Fungal Foray with the RI Mycological Society! This event will take place on Saturday\, October 7\, 2023 at 11:00 AM (EDT). We will gather at Wahaneeta Preserve (118 Moorehouse Road\, Westerly\, RI 02891)\, where we’ll hit the woods and uncover the local fungal biodiversity. \nCome and learn from experienced mycologists\, meet fellow fungal freaks or spark new curiosity as we learn about different species\, their ecological roles and significance. After we’ve spent some time exploring the woods\, an expert from the RI Mycological Society will lead us through a table talk\, sharing some of the discoveries and sharing some fungal knowledge. \nThis event is sure to bring together a great group of people\, so be sure to join us! Come prepared to walk in the woods. Carpool if you can and be sure to bring your reuseable water bottle. There are outhouses\, so no worries there! Dog and kid friendly. \nREGISTER HERE. \nDirections: From Dunn’s Corner Road\, head east on Moorhouse Road\, past the baseball fields and staying to the left at the fork. Parking is available through the gate at the trailhead on the large grassy field to the left.
