DESCRIPTION:Join the Audubon Society of Rhode Island\, New Bedford Whaling Museum\, Mystic Seaport and Whale and Dolphin Conservation for an exciting day focusing on whales! Each organization will display a life-sized inflatable whale ranging from 43 to 65 feet in length\, providing an exclusive opportunity to experience how BIG whales really are. Enjoy family activities\, a whale scavenger hunt\, and crafts! The program fee will be shared among participating organizations to assist in conservation efforts of our local whale species. (Rain date is September 24\, 2023; 10:00 am-2:00 pm) \nFee: $5/member of any participating organization (Audubon Society of RI\, New Bedford Whaling Museum\, Mystic Aquarium or Whale and Dolphin Conservation). SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Go Fly a Kite! with the Warren Land Conservation Trust
DESCRIPTION:Join the Warren Land Conservation Trust for kite flying on the beach at Jacob’s Point off the East Bay Bike Path\, overlooking the Warren River. Bring your own kite or borrow one of ours. All ages welcome. \nThe bike path and the trail to the beach are level and easy to walk\, and the beach is soft sand (may not be suitable for wheelchairs). Bring sunscreen\, water\, and maybe bug spray. \nThe prevailing wind is southwest\, and we’ve had gorgeous weather every year. Sandy beach\, warm waters\, on-shore breeze\, with birds\, boats and fish going by … What more could you want! \nAll ages welcome\, dogs are welcome on a leash. \nIt’s about a half mile walk from parking to the beach. To reach us\, park on Locust Terrace just before the Bike Path\, and walk 0.3 mile (5 minutes) south towards Bristol. You’ll see the sign for Marilyn’s Trail on the right. Please be respectful when parking on Locust Terrace. \nRegister here.
