DESCRIPTION:We’ll take a leisurely walk through the preserve looking and listening for fall migrating songbirds. There will be views into a saltmarsh from the new bridge the Land Conservancy of North Kingstown has installed\, and if there is time\, we may continue the walk into the adjacent Wilson Park. \nIf there is rain or excessive winds\, we will not be able to do the walk. No dogs at this event. \nBush Hill Preserve is accessed behind the First Baptist Church in Wickford. 44 Main Street\, Wickford. SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Row to Jacob's Point with Warren Land Conservation Trust
DESCRIPTION:THIS  EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO EXPECTED HIGH WINDS. \nAdult participants will learn how to row a 4 oared dory or a 6 oared pilot gig from two experienced coxswains. Participants will row a mile to Warren Land Trust’s property Jacob’s Point\, where the boats will be beached and the rowers will have a chance to explore and learn about Jacob’s Point beach and salt marsh ecology. Participants will then row back to the wharf. Please wear water shoes and weather-appropriate clothing and a hat. Gloves to protect your hands when rowing are helpful. Bring sunscreen\, bug spray\, water\, and a snack\, and binoculars to view bird life. Participants are required to wear a PFD which will be provided. 10 spaces are available. \nThe Wharf is on Water Street between State and Washington St. Parking is limited on the wharf. SUMMARY:Guided Trail Walk of Booth Pond Conservation Area
DESCRIPTION:Join the North Smithfield Land Trust for a guided walk on the newly opened Booth Pond Conservation Area\, which lies within North Smithfield and Woonsocket. This wildlife conservation area totals 130 acres and includes the pond\, surrounding wetlands and upland forest. \nThe first half of the walk to see the pond is of moderate difficulty\, and for those not interested in continuing further\, we will return to the trailhead. The second half of the walk has a few sections of somewhat challenging uphill/downhill terrain and a walking stick may be helpful. You will find a scenic overview of the surrounding area at a lookout point at the higher elevation. \nBe sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring bug spray and water. This event is FREE and suitable for all ages! No registration necessary. \nAlthough leashed dogs are normally permitted on the trails (all pet waste removed)\, it may be best to leave them at home for this group activity. \nRain Date: None. SUMMARY:Boots and Beer at Edward D. Vock Conservation Area
DESCRIPTION:***See registration instructions below!*** \nBoots & Beer hike in the Edward D. Vock Conservation Area at the corner of Jackson Schoolhouse Road and Olney Keach Road. Join us for a leisurely walk as we hike the Bob Cat Loop Trail. Sturdy hiking boots or sneakers are a must. The mile+ long trail climbs up a glacial esker or two\, crosses a stream or two\, and ends up in the first Rhode Island American Chestnut germ plasm orchard. Then join your fellow nature enthusiasts and relax at Bravo Brewing Company\, 75 Pascoag Main Street\, Pascoag\, RI\, 02859 for a beer (or whatever) and a slice or two of pizza. \nRegister on Meetup. \nThis event is free\, but for each donation of $20 to the Burrillville Land Trust\, you get one drink of your choice and a slice or two of pizza. All proceeds go towards our fund raising effort to Save Sweet’s Hill – 150 acres next to East Avenue in Harrisville. \nAny forecasted rain at the time of the hike postpones the event to the following week.
