DESCRIPTION:Location: Middletown\nJoin Norman Bird Sanctuary for their Sunday-morning guided bird walks! \nCount up as many bird species as you can\, from soaring red-tailed hawks to tiny hovering hummingbirds. You’ll learn how to identify common year-round residents and seasonal migrants. \nAll birding levels welcome! Binoculars are helpful but not required. Limited pairs of binoculars are available to borrow when the Welcome Center opens at 9:00 am. \nThese walks are FREE and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Location: Warren\n*Revision from the Warren Land Conservation Trust:\n“Unfortunately a conflict has come up in Ben Gagliardi’s schedule and he will not be able to lead the Nature Walk. However\, we are fortunate that Otter Brown has agreed to lead the walk as scheduled!\nOtter’s credentials:\nHe has worked for Mass Audubon for ten years. He is an “all-round naturalist with geological leanings/learnings”. He taught Environmental Science and AP Environmental Science at the Wheeler School for 35 years. Since retiring he has served on the Rehoboth Land Trust Board and has organized and helped lead their seasonal hikes.” \n  \nJoin The Warren Land Conservation Trust and Ben Gagliardi of the RISD Nature Lab for a walk around Haile Farm Preserve! \nBen has done wonderful\, informative walks for the land trust in the past and is an expert on bugs. During the nature walk\, he will share his expertise in observing the essence of the Preserve protected by the Warren Land Conservation Trust. He will be joined by his botanist friend\, Charlie Delavoi\, who specializes in moss. \nComfortable walking shoes\, sunblock\, and bug spray are recommended. SUMMARY:Evening Hike at Grills Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Location: Westerly\nJoin The Westerly Land Trust for an evening hike at Grills Preserve! \nThis wooded land is perfect for an outing with scenic views along the Pawcatuck River and a panoramic vista from atop Big Hill. We’ll learn about the preserve’s habitats\, animals\, and some of the interesting historical features of the land. Come along and enjoy the great outdoors with us! \nPlease dress appropriately (i.e. comfortable walking shoes/boots) for this moderate\, 2-mile walk. You may also want to bring along bug spray and a water bottle. \nThe terrain is mostly flat but there are some tricky sections that require crossing streams on large log bridges. This event is suitable for all ages and is FREE to attend.
