SUMMARY:Lawton Farm Walk
DESCRIPTION:Location: Scituate\nJoin the Scituate Land Trust for a Saturday morning walk through Lawton Farm! \nScituate Land Trust members will guide visitors around this prize conservation area near the Scituate Reservoir. Together we will cross the new footbridge on a leisurely walk on the perimeter trail around the fields and a brief loop through the woods. \nManaged primarily as a grassland bird sanctuary\, Lawton Farm has been improved recently through a Department of Environmental Management grant. The new entrance kiosk carries educational information and features bird illustrations colored on ceramic tiles by children from the Hope after school program. \nThis event is free and suitable for all ages. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and sun screen! No pets allowed during nesting season. \nIn the event of rain\, this event will be canceled. Check the Facebook or Meetup event for updates. \nDirections: From Scituate Avenue (Rt. 12)\, head south on Seven Mile Road 6/10 of a mile. Lawton Farm entrance is on your right.

SUMMARY:Miantonomi Open Tower Days
DESCRIPTION:Location: Newport\nJoin the Newport Open Space Partnership to climb to the top of Miantonomi Tower and enjoy the view from the highest point on the island! \n\n\nThe tower sits in Miantonomi Park\, which is conserved by Aquidneck Land Trust and is the largest city-owned park in Newport. The park features nature trails\, picnic areas\, and a playground. The tower\, completed in 1929\, was designed by the renowned architectural firm of McKim\, Mead & White. \nThe historic tower will be open for FREE every Saturday from 11 am – 2 pm from June 15 through August. \nDirections and Parking: 120 Hillside Ave\, Newport\, RI 02840. A path from the parking lot leads to the tower.
