Learn about migratory bird research at this special Walk & Talk with Aquidneck Land Trust at Bailey Brook in Middletown. \nBailey Brook is a primary source of drinking water for Middletown and Newport residents and serves as habitat for several migratory bird species. SUMMARY:Guided Nature Hike for All Ages
DESCRIPTION:Location: Foster\nThe Foster Land Trust invites you to join them for a nature hike on their Spencer-West property\, guided by botanical specialist M. Thoman. Recently\, the Youth Conservation League’s “Crew in Your Community” helped clean the trails and pond area to prepare for this Land Trust Days event. \nThis hike is appropriate for all ages with an easy half-mile walk through forested terrain and over two small footbridges to a pond. An optional 1-mile loop trail through Mountain Laurel shrub has trickier footing. For those just wanting to sit by the pond: bring a lawn chair and enjoy the surroundings! An access gate near the parking area takes you directly to the pond. Water activities are not permitted. Please\, no pets on this hike. \nThis event is rain or shine\, so dress appropriately for the weather that day. As always for woodland hikes\, a water bottle\, bug spray\, sunscreen\, hat\, and sturdy shoes are recommended. There are no bathroom facilities at this location. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Annual Land Trust Days Hot Dog Roast at SKLT Sculpture Trail
DESCRIPTION:Location: South Kingstown\nThe South Kingstown Land Trust invites you to their annual Land Trust Days Hot Dog Roast at the SKLT Sculpture Trail. One of the featured art installations\, “Sir Loin Barbecue Bull\,” will be fired up for the first time to grill hot dogs and vegetarian options. This year they’re serving a beloved Rhode Island tradition\, Saugys\, made in Cranston with natural ingredients for generations upon generations\, and local Whaler’s beer. SKLT’s sculpture trail occupies about three upland acres of an otherwise wet and forested 22 acres of protected land. The easy-to-walk trail includes 23 art installations by local artists. The event celebrates the trail and artwork that has been recently refreshed\, restored or replaced. \nEvent Price: $10 per person\, $20 per family & free for first time SKLT members who enroll at the door.
